Stress Book Don't be stressed by Stress

Managing stress

Managing stress

What you first need to do is take your thoughts of fear, and learn to control them – even if it is only possible to control a portion of these fears. By taking control over your thoughts, you are going to worry less.

Use my fear of my children and drugs for example. I am afraid my children will experiment with drugs. Now, to control my fears and lessen my stress, I am going to have to trust my children. I am going to teach and explain to my children about drugs, how bad they can be, and I am going to explain to my children that no matter what the situation they have an answer within their own self, and they can talk to me about it any time. This lessens my worries, takes away from my stress and in the end worrying less I will be healthier for it all. What I really did was learn what I feared the most and learned how to control it. I might still have a fear of my child doing drugs, but I have brought the problem to a smaller, lesser threatening level because I educated and talked with my child.

You can apply this method to any fears that you have – identify it, face it, and control it

Overcoming your fears also means that you are going to have to face some of your fears and control some of your stress by over coming what you are afraid of no matter what it is, big or small. Removing fear from your life, or at least the amounts of fear in your life that are unbearable, your are going to lower your levels of stress tremendously for a healthier and happier life.

Now what about that fear of losing your job? Face the facts, that yes you could if you are in an industry that is dying and get prepared to do something else. Less stress because you have faced that probability and you are prepared, no stress! On the other hand, if you fear losing your job because you have done something wrong, fix it. Fix what you did wrong, work harder to improve yourself and the fear of losing your will disappear as well. Again, all situations can be handled to minimize the impact on your life, your emotions, and your physical health.
